Honda had announced that it will be cutting production of its Accord hybrid. Apparently not only are sales low for the brand’s flagship, but younger sibling Civic hybrid is selling like hotcakes. I’ve read Honda’s even considering dropping the trim altogether.
If the automaker does so, we’ll have to drop them.
Automobiles de Luxe has a hilarious post on descriptors for the new Mercedes-Benz GL-Class. Gunnar Heinrich, who writes the blog, found adjectives such as “Big & Bold” and “Serve & Protect” in the description of the SUV. After nearly snorting out (hot) coffee from barely surpressed laughter, I added my two cents: “Gas-guzzling & Pretentious”.

That’s the simple answer. I’m not going to beat around the bush or waste several electrons on some long-winded intro. I was chatting with a car enthusiast/lux owner about the question over the weakened and he nailed it without blinking an eye.
For the past couple of days I have spent over $200 dollars on rentals. How? I didn’t choose the standard vehicles like a Taurus or Grand Am. I rented, instead, a Nissan Murano and an Infiniti M. People, including my spouse, were taken aback especially since we’re spending nearly a thousand in repairs for our regular cars (e.g., new full-sized spare, new radiator, etc.)
You would think that, after working within the auto industry not only full-time but part-time as well, that I would have read about every means legally (and stupidly) how to save on fuel. But I fell into a common fallacy that only the vehicle is the culprit. Suze Orman’s recent article on saving on car insurance reminded me there are other expenses beside gasoline and car maintenance.
Healthcare costs continue to rise here in the U.S. I can sympathize why the United Auto Workers and other unions in Detroit are fighting tooth and nail to maintain their phenomenal health coverage. Foreign automakers with plants on U.S. soil (called “transplants”) have made sure to match such benefits to keep their workers happy and, more importantly, prevent any unions from forming.
So what would happen to those benefits if unions didn’t exist anymore?
I’m going to hurt the American economy. While I fatten oil companies coffers because I consider fuel a necessity, I’m going to hurt the rest of the economy to, well, be American and think for myself first.
I’ll admit it. When I first saw the spyshots of the new XK, I thought, gawd. That is ugly.
It steams me when reviewers, who are paid to check out cars, make what I consider a very, very basic, mistake: comparing cars built on the same platform. The most recent vehicle: the Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan/Lincoln MKZ (formerly Zephyr).
