While some people don't "get" the Commander, its been a success and has established the Jeep brand in a segment where it was not present. If you go to Jeep Commander forums, it is not uncommon to read from owners raving about their rigs. And, now that Jeep has announced the Overland edition Commander for 2007, Jeep is ready to give Mercedes and Range Rover a run for their money.

We have had our Commander since July and have 10,000km (6,000 miles) on it now. We live in Canada and there is a fair amount of snow here now. We love this thing. It handles very well. In the summer we pulled our 26ft (lite) trailer with it and it handled it fine. Hard on gas but you have the power with the 5.7 hemi. We have had a couple small issues with the computer. One day the radio quit working and when we took it to the dealer, it started working again?? Go figure. There is room for a baby carriage and two dogs, no problem. Try before you buy. There is a bit of a blind spot but there are not too many vehicles out there today that don't. I drive a 05 Yukon for a company vehicle and I like the Jeep better. Jeep rocks.

I have a problem finding the right car for me. I need a car with big cargo space for two working dogs and a baby carriage when we are five persons in the car AND it needs to go offroad because of dogs training and work. I LOVE the look of the Commander and I know it would pe perfect in our climate whith a lot of snow but is it big enough?

Why take the time to research a Jeep if you hate them? Get a life. There are 2 types of people in the world; Jeep people and pansies. I love my '06 Jeep Commander and have already taken it offroad. For all NYers offroad isn't a drive to Jersey it refers to actually driving your truck off the road on terrain most suvs can't handle unless its a Jeep 4x4.

Yes Jeeps are pretty cool. But now, this Commander can take the second spot on my top 10 Jeep rides. The 2005 Jeep Liberty ranks top 1 for me. [Read more: Auto Buff by Sarah.

I doubt that Jeep was going after the NYC market with the Commander. I live in the snow belt and thats the reason I bought my Commander. Try Northern Minnesota in Febuary or better yet Buffalo NY in March and then you'll see the need for this great looking Truck. Detroit didn't forget about you.. get your self a Cooper.

Bigger Not Better

1. It's ugly.
2. It's ugly
3. It's a Jeep - a.k.a. repair shop rover.

Jeep has evolved into cheap ride for soccer dads here in the NYC-metro area. Off roading? What is that - a ride out to NJ? Jeep would have better spent their R & D dollars on creating a useful, practical vehicle for the large SUV customer. I wish Detroit would take a hard cold look at what we as drivers really could use, no what we think we want.
