BMW M1 Homage: Future Vehicle?

Munich/Cernobbio. To mark the 30th anniversary of the BMW M1 super sports car, BMW Group Design is presenting a homage to this legendary model as part of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2008.

The BMW M1 designed by Giorgio Giugiaro was a car of superlatives and a highly emotive vehicle that was uncompromisingly primed for the race track. Spawning this development was the BMW Turbo by Paul Bracq, a revolutionary concept car which, in addition to its groundbreaking functional design, also boasted a raft of technical innovations. It is from these two unique vehicles that the BMW M1 Homage takes its cue - a design study that pays tribute to its forerunner models and an embodiment of the competence, creativity and potential of the BMW Group Design team.

Land Rover G4 Challenge Nevada Passage Kicks Off to Cull Amateurs

CARSON CITY, Nev. – Twenty amateur adventure athletes will drive, run, bike, climb and kayak through the wide-open Nevada landscape as Land Rover North America and the Nevada Commission on Tourism kick off the Land Rover G4 Challenge Nevada Passage, May 6. The four-day multistage competition, which lasts through Friday, is the United States’ sole qualifying event for the prestigious international Land Rover G4 Challenge.

General Motors to support CAFE

“GM intends to meet the tough, new national CAFE standards of 35 mpg for cars and trucks combined by 2020, a dramatic increase of 40 percent. NHTSA’s proposed rule lays out the first set of standards toward this target. GM will work with NHTSA throughout its rulemaking process on the yearly targets and the sensible mechanisms needed to meet this challenge.”

“The Dream Team” - W.R. Farrington High School, Honolulu, Hawaii:
This team of eight students focused on educating people around the world about the benefits of renewable energy sources such as wind turbines, solar panels, fuel cells, and hydropower. After learning about the potential positive impact of these alternative sources of energy, including gaining a solid understanding of fuel cell technology, the team spread their message worldwide through videos, blogs and a Web site in multiple languages. They also used social media Web sites to keep the conversation going.

HUMMERs race Around the World

DETROIT - HUMMER off-road racing teams are making final preparations to demonstrate their off-road prowess on opposite sides of the globe this weekend. The competition begins with Team HUMMER’s entry in Best in the Desert Racing Series Terrible’s 250 at Primm, April 19, and concludes with Robby Gordon Motorsport’s Team Dakar USA’s HUMMER H3 race trucks competing in the inaugural Dakar Series Central Europe Rally, April 20-26.

Auburn Hills, Mich./Tokyo, Apr 14, 2008 - Chrysler LLC and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced two new agreements for the supply of products between both companies. In January, Nissan agreed to supply Chrysler with a new car based on the Nissan Versa sedan for limited distribution in South America on an Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) basis in 2009.
