Dear Santa,
I’ve been good this year, so I’m going to ask for something special this Christmas. I want a new car. I know, it’s a lot to ask, but I have been really, really good this year!

I’ve been good this year, so I’m going to ask for something special this Christmas. I want a new car. I know, it’s a lot to ask, but I have been really, really good this year!
I’ve been thinking about getting a hybrid vehicle anyway, you know because I’m so good and I don’t want to waste gas and stuff, so I thought that asking for a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid would be a great idea. I know it won’t fit in my stocking, and it will be tough to wrap up, even for an old pro like you. You can just park it in the driveway and put a big gold bow on top to keep things simple, okay?
So, what do you say, Santa?
Before you answer, consider this: the Civic Hybrid gets like 50 miles to the gallon and has the lowest level of emissions. It is reasonably priced, starting at around $22,000, and hey, it’s a Honda. Oh, yeah, I can also get a federal tax deduction for a vehicle that uses less and cleaner fuel.
Did you know that the Civic Hybrid won the 2006 Motor Trend Car of the Year Award? Yep, it sure did, right along with other Civic models, despite an unheard of amount of competition. The editor in chief of Motor Trend says that Honda deserves a “standing ovation.” I think so too. I think it’s a great car and I just happen to be on the “nice” list this Christmas.
Okay, maybe you need a little more convincing. Of course, you are already aware that Honda provides a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty on all its cars and the Civic Hybrid is no exception. But, did you know that Honda also offers an eight year or 80,000 mile limited warranty on the Hybrid battery pack?
The Civic has tons of great features including side curtain airbags to protect my passengers, and it has a kickin’ sound system, which I promise not to turn up too loud. C’mon, Santa, it even looks good! This car is way better looking than most hybrids you’ve seen. I think I’d like the Opal Silver Blue Metallic, unless you want to pick the color. As a matter of fact, you go ahead and pick. That’s cool, since you’re buying.
I realize that I might be pushing my luck, asking for a car for Christmas, but I figured that since it’s a good value and good for the environment and everything that you would at least think about it. You might want to get one for yourself while you’re at it, considering all the cash you could save at the gas pump.
Well, I really shouldn’t push, so I’ll give you some time to think about it. Christmas is about a month away, so you should have plenty of time to consider my request. Take your time. Talk to Mrs. Clause about it.
Did I mention that I’ve been really, really good?

The hybrid scene is getting very exciting, one issue that might hold people from purchasing one is that since its an emerging sector, the designs are hopefully going to be getter better and better, so will this effect future resale value?

Santa brought me an early Christmas present and I have to say I can’t be any happier :). The civic hybrid is surprisingly quick for its HP to weight ratio which makes it feel like a corvette next to our Prius. We’ve been averaging about 55mpg gallon so far which is amazing. Hope Santa sticks one under your tree this year.

question: If the battery motor propels the vehicle from 0 - 35 mph, why do rpms go up on speedometer? Do rpms go up from battery motor?
