Cars I Like and Dislike

Everyone has certain car preferences — ones they would drive or buy over the other, and I’m no different. In this article I will discuss my favorite imports and domestics (if the phrase “favorite domestics” is not oxymoronic when discussing automobiles) and what autos whet my car thirst.

The Mercedes E55 AMG is my favorite Benz, hands down. This bad boy has a slushbox that pushes around 469-hp, nearly as much as the M5 but without the embarrassing BMW iDrive car entertainment/confusion system. It looks nicer, and the interiors of Mercs are just nicer than their Bavarian cousin in my opinion. If I had that kind of money, I’d buy an E55 over any other car in its class without blinking.

BMW 330i w/Performance Package (PDF) adds an additional 10 horsepower on top of the regular I-6 output, topping out at 235. I drove this car and can definitely vouch for it to be quicker than the regular 330i, plus the additional body kit stylings are hot.

I generally don’t like the build quality of most Nissans, but the 350Z is very nice, and quick. You can probably get the dealer to sell down the base model till about $25,500 ….. not bad for nearly 300 horsepower.

And for the cheaper car, I still like my Honda Civic. Over 75k miles on it, and not one problem yet (save for the deer parts that were removed from my hood). I’ll probably keep this baby for awhile, at least until it dies or I get a job ….. whichever comes first :)

My favorites are the Nissan Skyline GT-R … any of the last 3 generations will work for me. :)
I love all Silvias/240SX’s from the S13 to the S15.

My beloved old Honda Prelude Type SH. Super fun little car with a touch of class. :)
The looks of the Lambo Gallardo are wonderful as well as the Aston Martin Vanquish.

and on a side note a friend of mine just got a 2004 Audi S4 and let me take it out for a drive. Holy shit that car is nice. In 5th gear I blew by people on the expressway like they were standing still. 340hp V8 + Quattro = good times. =)

If I could get a prestige number-plate long enough it would definately say: “HOME SWEET HOME” and be present on the back of my BMW.

As for “dream” cars I like: Try the M4 (on its way) and M6. I also really like the VW R32

Other than beemers though, I’m a sucker for the honda s2000.

I’ll agree with Eric that the Audi S4 is a sweet car! Nice choice Eric. ;-)

Man the Lotus Elise is absolutely sick ….. my cheapo alternative would be the Brabus Smart Roadster, if it ever comes over to the states.

Not just any Lotus Elise…the stripped down model. The one without carpeting or stereo. Can’t get much more pure sports car than that (F40 excluded).

I love my Spyder, obviously.

But I’m smitten by the 1972 Ford Pinto. Seriously. I just love the styling. I’m dead serious.

More modern, I’m in lust with the Chrysler 300C.

The Toyota Celica has, in my opinion, the hands-down best dash design of all time. It’s like a fighter jet.

I own a 98 accord and a 91 civic hatch, so I am so into the SCC scene. With that said, I would love to own an s13/91-93 240sx, 85 or 86 Corolla GTS, Datsun 510, or an Austin Cooper 69-73.
As far as the cars that I would probably never be able to get in the states and drive legally (aside from the Skyline through various import companies):
Ford Escort Cosworth edition, an actual s15 Silvia (not a converted 240sx/s14), and of course a Skyline R32 or R34 not the R33. Don’t ask why aas i have no real answer.

I agree about the E55. From a styling stand point I think that it has the M5 beat hands down. I love the subtle blue tint on the windows, the luminescent dials and just the right amount of bling and luxury wood on the inside. Especially compared to the ergonomic nightmare that is the BMW. Too bad it’s a autobox though and that fact that you can never really turn off the TC. I love the look of the E55 but the drive in my needs a manual gearbox.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the fourth generation T/A. LS1 power, six speed, and with the WS6 package great loooks. I’ve heard that many people find the interior uncomfortable but I drove one myself and being taller than most (6′5″) found it exceedingly comfortable, so much so I didn’t want to hand the keys back over. The car has a slew of aftermarket items from QA1 adjustable shocks to 408cid stroker kits. I think that this is a car overlooked by most (as well as it’s F-Body twin the Camaro) and I think it has great potential. Oh, and another +1 on the E55, thats just an orgasmic vehicle.
