DETROIT – Roger B. Smith, who led General Motors in the 1980s through a period of significant change, passed away here November 29 after a brief illness. He was 82.
DETROIT – General Motors (GM) received the Corporate Energy Management of the Year Award from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) yesterday at the association’s annual conference in Atlanta.

It seems General Motors is often intent on doing its own thing when nearly everybody else is doing otherwise. Such seems to be the case with its OnStar phone system.
DETROIT - Despite an expected decline in U.S. industry sales, GM reported a 3.4 percent total sales increase, compared with February 2006. The sales gain was due to an 11 percent retail sales increase. Retail and fleet sales by GM dealers in the United States totaled 311,763 vehicles, compared with sales of 301,545 in February 2006. Fleet sales were down 18 percent due to a planned 25 percent reduction in daily rental sales.
DETROIT - General Motors announced earlier this month that it will provide consumers with a fully transferable five-year/100,000-mile* powertrain limited warranty with no deductible, on all GM Certified Used Vehicles, the industry’s top-selling manufacturer-certified used vehicle brand.
Reports out today say that golfer-extraordinaire Tiger Woods may play a larger role in General Motor’s advertising and marketing campaigns beyond Buick. While the whole golf/Buick tie-in is an obvious match, making the jump to luring Tiger-age customers (he’s 30) from an average age of 68 into a Buick showroom is akin to taking a running jump across the Grand Canyon and hoping to make it unscathed.
