On Wednesday, June 6th, I participated at the Silverado/Sierra Challenge at General Motors’ Milford Proving Grounds.
The new 2008 Ford F-Series Super Duty – the boldest, most capable and cleanest F-Series truck ever – hits dealerships this week; 50,000 orders placed even before truck went on sale.
Let me tell you something: there’s no such thing as a one-day truck show.
Trucks and SUVs are not exactly well-known for great gas-mileage. Though it’s been a while since I owned or even driven either (Mitsubishi Mighty Max. Sniff), I remember a few ways on how to save fuel plus some excellent advice from the web. Hope this helps you, too, when you’re filling up that Escalade or HUMMER at the pump.
Automakers can call their new styling gimmicks whatever they want to, but it won’t change the fact that many of the newer designs are strikingly ugly. In all fairness, I’ll cut them a little slack for taking risks, a welcome change from every new car looking the same, but come on!
We’ve all seen commercials that show a steep craggy mountain; a large
trailer in tow behind a large pickup truck. A man with a deep voice
proclaims that this truck can tow more than its in-class rivals, has
bigger brakes, bigger tires, and a more powerful engine. The
imagery and the narrative converge to make you pick one up on the way back
from your manly construction job tomorrow. But why doesn’t it make me
want to buy one?
