Women getting better, not worse, deals at car dealerships

Remember the post about how women may have influenced car designs to the detriment of Ford and General Motors? Well, it looks like women’s influence may be even more immediate than many people think.

Remember the post about how women may have influenced car designs to the detriment of Ford and General Motors? Well, it looks like women’s influence may be even more immediate than many people think.

According to a survey by the British Consumers’ Association, a consumer watchgroup, women tended to receive lower prices for vehicles compared to their male counterparts. Men usually received higher prices, forcing them to negotiate. Interestingly, when women did negotiate for a lower price, they were more successful then the men.

The CA’s survey contradicts surveys from What Car? magazine and Which?, both showing women tended to be overcharged on new vehicles.

What do you think, folks? Is “grrrl” power the real deal or highly overrated?

I think women get a fair shake at dealers. Stats have revealed that women make up for MORE than 50% of the decisions when it comes to a couple buying a vehicle, so they better get the fair deal…
